Head protection can save someone’s life in an accident. Hospital bills for survivors are almost double for those without protection than those with them. Spending that extra dollar for a quality protection, with the statistics in hand, is not at all a bad idea.
Helmets can be bought at motorcycle shops, yard sales, and even the Internet for reasonable prices. Craigslist, an Internet classified website, has several helmets listed for $25.00 and slightly higher. Some of the factors that may affect the price are items like graphics, types of face shields, sizes, and colors. When choosing a helmet based on price, it is more important that it is at least D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) approved. Regardless of the cost, it is of no use if it easily falls off or does not fit right. eBay is another source for inexpensive helmets, as they often times run anywhere from $20.00 to hundreds of dollars. Scratch resistant helmets are also very popular, but can be expensive depending on the location purchased. Often times, neighbors and yard sales have helmets laying around that they no longer have use for. Those helmets can be very inexpensive and can save someone a tremendous amount of time and money. There are some helmets that can range anywhere from $300.00 to $700.00 and these offer a huge selection of convenient features such as breath guard, scratch resistance, and easy to use straps, among many others.
